Every other one I've tried (VLC, 5KPlayer, PotPlayer, VSO Media Player) has choppy DVD playback. This is the ONLY free media player for Windows that's played DVDs fluidly for me. After they didn't, I went back and played scenes again, shocked to find no skipping or glitching at all. I popped in Rogue One once again, skipping around to 'problem areas', waiting for frames to lag. Going through Google search results one last desperate time, I found a forum post with a link to this program's download page. I nearly gave up, coming to the conclusion that maybe my laptop's video card is just defective. I've even triple-checked that all the relevant drivers are up to date. No alternative media players and tweaking with their settings has worked either. No amount of tweaking with VLC's settings has worked. I have spent quite a few hours today researching solutions for VLC media player's choppy DVD playback.
